list_games
Games of the catalogue with their slugs, card languages and price coverage per source. 0 credit.
search_cards
Search the cards of a game by name or number, edition, language or rarity. 1 credit per page.
get_card
Full sheet of one card: edition, number, rarity, images, marketplace ids and the same card in other languages (both Growth and up). 1 credit.
get_card_prices
Current prices of one card from Cardmarket, the US market and eBay sales, each in its native currency. 1 credit, +1 per include.
get_cards_batch
Current prices of up to 100 cards and sealed products (`sealed:{id}`) in one call. 1 credit per call, +1 per card and include.
get_price_history
Daily price history of one source for a card or a sealed product, bounded by the plan's history. 3 credits.
list_editions
Editions (sets) of a game, newest first, with their ids; `q` finds one by its name or set code. 1 credit per page.
search_sealed
Search the sealed products of a game (boosters, displays, ETB…) by name, edition, type or language. 1 credit per page.
get_sealed_prices
Current prices of one sealed product, each source in its native currency. 1 credit.
identify_card
Identify a card from free text (name, number, edition, language in any order, typos tolerated): up to 5 candidates, best first, with the signals that matched. 1 credit.
price_summary
The price the ValoTCG app shows for a card or a sealed product, in EUR, with its source, reliability and 7, 30 and 90-day changes. 1 credit, +1 per include.
top_movers
Largest price rises or falls of a game or an edition over 7, 30 or 90 days (cards of 10 EUR and more). 3 credits.
top_priced
Most valuable cards or sealed products of a game, by the price the ValoTCG app shows (EUR): every edition and language, or one edition, one language, one sealed product type. 3 credits.
compare_prices
Price summaries of up to 10 cards and sealed products (`sealed:{id}`) side by side. 1 credit, +1 per card and include.
edition_overview
Chase cards, sealed products with prices and price coverage of one edition. 3 credits.
scan_card
Recognise the card in a photo (Valo.Vision): up to 5 Valo.Data cards, best first; chain with price_summary for its price. 1 scan per analysed photo; a refused photo or an error costs nothing. Photos are processed in memory and never stored.

Valo.IA — MCP server for trading card prices

Ask your AI agent what any trading card is worth, and get a sourced, dated answer. Valo.IA is the hosted MCP server behind ValoTCG: 540,000+ card references across 14 games, with the real European price (Cardmarket in EUR), the US market price, what the card actually sold for on eBay, graded sales and PSA populations, sealed products and 365 days of history. One line of config, one API key, and your agent prices a collection, a shop inventory or a single pull like a market analyst.

Why agents like it

Every price says where it comes from, in which currency and on which day. No blended figure, no silent conversion, and status: "missing" instead of a guess when a source has nothing.
Graded and raw in the same call: eBay medians for PSA 9 and PSA 10 over 30 and 90 days next to the raw price, plus PSA and CCC populations by grade, to decide whether a card is worth grading.
Ready-made answers: price_summary returns a recommended price with its reliability and recent change, top_movers and top_priced rank a whole set, compare_prices lines up ten cards side by side.
Built for tooling: 16 read-only, idempotent tools, credit metering in the response, errors never billed, free Sandbox key to try.

This repository holds the public metadata of the server (server.json), setup instructions and examples. The server itself runs on ValoTCG's infrastructure; nothing needs to be installed or built from here.

Quick start

Create a free Sandbox key at https://valotcg.com/developers/account (no credit card). Keys look like vd_test_… (Sandbox) or vd_live_… (paid plans).
Add the server to your client.

Tools

All 16 tools are read-only and idempotent. Each call is metered in Valo.Data credits (the credit cost is documented per tool in tools/list); an error is never billed.

`search_sealed`	Search sealed products (boosters, displays, ETBs, boxes).
`get_sealed_prices`	Current prices of a sealed product per source.
`identify_card`	Find a card from free text such as "dracaufeu 199 151 fr".
`price_summary`	Recommended price, reliability and recent changes of a card or sealed product.
`compare_prices`	Price summaries of up to 10 cards and sealed products side by side.
`top_movers`	Largest price rises or falls of a game or an edition over 7, 30 or 90 days.
`top_priced`	Most valuable cards or sealed products of a game, an edition or a language.
`edition_overview`	Chase cards, sealed products and price coverage of an edition.
`scan_card`	Recognise a card from a photo and return its Valo.Data ids (keys with the Vision scope only).

A quote that does not exist comes back with status: "missing" and a null amount, never an invented figure. Every price carries its source, currency and observation date; nothing is converted between currencies.

Behaviour and limits

initialize and tools/list answer without a key, so directories and clients can inspect the server. A tools/call without a valid key returns a tool error (invalid_api_key, not billed) pointing to the key page.
GET and DELETE on /mcp return 405: the server is stateless, without SSE streams or sessions.

The Sandbox key is for prototyping and non-commercial use; paid plans add the commercial licence. Prices are net, VAT not applicable (art. 293 B of the French tax code). Plans: https://valotcg.com/developers/pricing.
