Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

Turn a raw terminal session into clean, shareable Markdown, redacting secret patterns by default.

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

  • Connection: Runs on your computer
  • Transport: stdio
  • Category: Other

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

  • Basic checks: 1 of 1 passed
  • Runs on your computer with your user’s permissions (files, network, apps).
  • The registry lists no key to fill in.

You need

  • npmNode.js installed (for the npx command)

Which app do you use?

Pick your app above. We remember it, so next time the button says “Install in …”.

Open Claude Desktop → Settings → Developer → Edit Config, and paste this into claude_desktop_config.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "termlog": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "@reneturcios/termlog",
        "mcp"
      ]
    }
  }
}

Run this in your terminal

claude mcp add termlog -- npx -y @reneturcios/termlog mcp

Open in Cursor

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "termlog": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "@reneturcios/termlog",
        "mcp"
      ]
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

Open in VS Code

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .vscode/mcp.json in your project

{
  "servers": {
    "termlog": {
      "type": "stdio",
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "@reneturcios/termlog",
        "mcp"
      ]
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

Common questions

Is Termlog safe?

It passed 1 of 1 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

The registry does not list a required key, though some servers ask you to sign in on first use.

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

It runs on your computer. Your AI app starts it when needed, and data does not pass through the maker’s servers (unless it calls an online service itself).

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (0.1.0) reached the registry 4 days ago.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. You also need Node.js, Docker on your computer.

What can I use instead?

termlog

Paste a terminal session into a chat or a doc and you paste everything: colour codes, progress bars that rewrote themselves a hundred times, and — too often — the API key that scrolled by in the middle. termlog cleans a raw session into shareable markdown in one local pass:

  1. ANSI removal — CSI, OSC, and two-character escape sequences are stripped, and every removal is counted
  2. Carriage returns — each line keeps only what followed its last \r, so a progress bar collapses to its final state
  3. Trailing whitespace — trailing spaces and tabs stripped
  4. Redaction (on by default) — private-key blocks, AWS access key ids, GitHub tokens, Bearer credentials, and key = value secrets are replaced with [REDACTED: ] markers, applied in that pattern order and counted per kind
  5. Blank lines — runs of 3+ newlines collapse to exactly 2, and blank lines at the edges are trimmed

The result is the cleaned text in a console ` fence, the redaction counts, and line statistics. Pure local text transform: no network, no configuration.

CLI

npx @reneturcios/termlog clean --input session.log

npx @reneturcios/termlog clean --input session.log --no-redact npx @reneturcios/termlog --version

The input file is read as UTF-8 and the output object is printed as JSON. Exit codes: 0 on success, 1 on a runtime error (including an unreadable input file), 2 on a usage error.

MCP server

npx -y @reneturcios/termlog mcp

MCP client config:

{

"mcpServers": { "termlog": { "command": "npx", "args": ["-y", "@reneturcios/termlog", "mcp"] } } }

Tools
  • clean_terminal_log — Turn a raw terminal session into clean, shareable Markdown.
  • text (string, required) — the raw terminal session text
  • redact (boolean, optional, default true) — apply secret redaction

Returns {markdown, redactions, stats}: the fenced cleaned text, the per-kind redaction counts (kinds with a count above zero, in pattern order), and {input_lines, output_lines, ansi_sequences_removed, total_redactions}.

Docker

docker run -i ghcr.io/cloudcorprecords/termlog

docker run --rm -v "$PWD:/w" ghcr.io/cloudcorprecords/termlog clean --input /w/session.log

Development

npm install

npm run build # tsc -> dist/ npm test # tsx --test test/*.test.ts (pure local, no network) npm run dev # run the CLI from source
