Overview

Description from the maker (original English)

Read tasks, comments, users and presets; create and update tasks and post comments in Jostle.

PopNx MCP’s three pillars

These three are never merged into one score: opinions, measurements and popularity are different things.

What you can do with it

We have not written a plain-language summary for this one yet. Below are the facts we read from the registry.

Install

Pick the AI app you use, then copy the settings.

Before you install

  • Basic checks: 3 of 3 passed
  • Runs on the maker’s server: what you ask it goes through their server.
  • Can do 7 things (tools) jostle_list_users, jostle_list_presets, jostle_get_task, jostle_list_task_comments …
  • The registry lists no key to fill in.

You need

Which app do you use?

Pick your app above. We remember it, so next time the button says “Install in …”.

Works in Claude on the web, desktop and mobile:

  1. Open Settings → Connectors
  2. Press Add custom connector
  3. Paste the address below and press Add
  4. If it asks you to sign in, sign in with the maker
SettingsConnectors1+ Add2https://…3
https://jostle.usefulapi.io/mcp

Run this in your terminal

claude mcp add --transport http jostle https://jostle.usefulapi.io/mcp

Open in Cursor

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "jostle": {
      "url": "https://jostle.usefulapi.io/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

Open in VS Code

Or copy the settings yourself

Paste into .vscode/mcp.json in your project

{
  "servers": {
    "jostle": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://jostle.usefulapi.io/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Your browser asks to open the app, then the app shows the settings and asks you to confirm. Key values are left empty for you to fill in.

ChatGPT connects only to servers on the internet:

  1. Open ChatGPT on the web → Settings → Connectors (Apps)
  2. Press Create or Add (some plans need Developer mode under Advanced first)
  3. Paste the address below, give it a name and save
  4. If it asks you to sign in, sign in with the maker

These settings are generated from the maker’s registry entry. If the README says otherwise, follow the README.

What it can do

Tool names and descriptions exactly as the server reported them on Nov 6, 2026. The maker wrote them, not us; we show them as plain text.

  • jostle_list_users

    List the users in the Jostle instance with their id, username and display name. Use the id or username when you create or update a task. Jostle API: GET /v2/people.

  • jostle_list_presets

    List the Jostle list presets (named groups of users for assignees or collaborators). Use a preset id when you create a task. Jostle API: GET /v2/people/list-presets.

  • jostle_get_task

    Get one task by id: title, description, due date, assignee, collaborators, completion status and comment count. The token user must be the assignee or a collaborator. Jostle API: GET /v2/tasks/task/{id}.

  • jostle_list_task_comments

    List the comments on a task, newest page first, with paging. Jostle API: GET /v2/tasks/task/{id}/comments.

  • jostle_create_task

    Create a task in the Tasks of one assignee. Give the assignee as userId, username or employeeId, and optional collaborators or a preset. Due dates are saved in Eastern Standard Time. Jostle API: POST /v2/tasks.

  • jostle_update_task

    Change a task with JSON Patch operations (RFC 6902). Allowed paths: /title, /description, /dueDate, /assignee, /collaborators, /completionStatus. Jostle API: PATCH /v2/tasks/task/{id}.

  • jostle_add_task_comment

    Add a comment to a task as the token user. Comments are visible to everyone who can see the task. Jostle API: POST /v2/tasks/task/{id}/comment.

Common questions

Is Jostle MCP by usefulapi safe?

It passed 3 of 3 applicable basic checks. We have not read the code. Before adding a key or token, see what access the server asks for and use a key with only the permissions you need.

What keys or codes does it need?

The registry does not list a required key, though some servers ask you to sign in on first use.

Does it run on my computer or in the cloud?

It runs in the maker’s cloud. Connect over the internet with nothing to install, but what you send passes through the maker’s servers.

Is it still maintained?

The GitHub repo last changed –, and the latest version (1.0.2) reached the registry yesterday.

Which apps can use it?

Apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. It connects by URL, so apps that accept remote MCP servers work too, such as ChatGPT in developer mode.

What can I use instead?

Jostle MCP by usefulapi

Use your Jostle account from Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client. Read tasks, task comments, users and list presets, and create or update tasks and post comments as your own user. Hosted, no local install: connect with your own credentials.

Live endpoint: https://jostle.usefulapi.io/mcp · Homepage: https://usefulapi.io

Connect

  • Claude (claude.ai, Desktop): open Customize → Connectors, click + Add → Add custom connector, and paste https://jostle.usefulapi.io/mcp.
  • Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http jostle https://jostle.usefulapi.io/mcp, then run /mcp to log in.
  • VS Code: Add to VS Code.
  • Cursor and other clients: add the URL as a remote MCP server:
{

"mcpServers": { "jostle": { "url": "https://jostle.usefulapi.io/mcp" } } }

Add only the URL. Do not add an Authorization header or an API key to the client config: the server signs you in with OAuth, and the login page asks for your Jostle credentials.

Step-by-step setup, where to find your credentials, and FAQ: https://usefulapi.io/jostle/

On first connect you provide a Jostle Tasks API token (open Tasks in Jostle and create an API token; a system administrator must first give your user Tasks API access). The server validates it and stores it per user. No keys go in config files.
